
Fisk Alumna and famed actress Kym Whitley, hit the airwaves for Fisk University on the nationally syndicated Steve Harvey Morning Show. Whitley solicited support from listeners to contribute to the University’s Mellon Match Challenge Grant.The goal of the challenge grant is to stimulate support from alumni, trustees and friends of Fisk to raise $4 million in unrestricted dollars by June 30, 2008. As of June 20, the University had raised $3,881,321 toward the challenge. The grant operates as a 2:1 match. The Mellon Foundation contributions along with the support of alumni, trustees and friends of Fisk will elevate Fisk fund raising to $8.3 Million during fiscal year 2007-2008. I am a proud alumni of Florida A&M University (FAMU), but I have great friends whom are alums of Fisk and will support them in anyway possible. Regardless of what HBCU you graduated from, we should support one another. Stay blessed everyone.
