President O’Leary gave the keynote address today during the 18th annual Metropolitan Action Commission Adult Education Graduation. In her address, President O’Leary cited the graduates for their perseverance and appealed to the undecided college candidates to consider Fisk University. Forty-two students received their general equivalency diploma (GED) during the ceremony. Ten members of the graduating class earned academic honors with a score of over 2500 on the GED exam.
The ceremony was held at Isaiah T. Creswell Arts Magnet School. Beginning in the 1940s, Creswell served for over two decades as comptroller at Fisk University and made contributions to Nashville’s business and academic community.
