The Jubilee Bridge had its own jubilee Monday.
Metro officials, including Mayor Karl Dean, and presidents of Fisk University and Meharry Medical College rededicated the bridge on Dr. DB Todd Boulevard in a ceremony attended by about 60 people.
The historic bridge, which serves as the gateway to the college campuses, got a makeover. Crews pressure washed and clean the bridge deck and railings, planted new landscaping and erected a new sign.
The Jefferson Street United Merchants Partnership, J.U.M.P., worked with Fisk, Meharry, Metro Public Works, the mayor’s office and Metro Parks and Recreation to clean up the bridge area between Jo Johnston Avenue and Herman Street.
