Renowned teacher, author and naturopathic health specialist Queen Afua will present a lecture and sign copies of her books on Friday, January 30 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and will conduct health and wellness workshops on Saturday, January 31, 2009 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Fisk Memorial Chapel. The events are sponsored by the Fisk -Meharry HBCU Wellness Initiative and are free and open to the public.
Afua is the director of the Global Sacred Woman Village Centre and the co-director of Heal Thyself Natural Living Centre in Brooklyn, New York and has taught holistic health care at prestigious institutions such as NYC Downstate Medical Center and Long Island University Medical Center.
“Whether we have high blood pressure or any other abnormalities, the Most High has given us a way of healing ourselves using nature, but we need the tools.” Afua said during an interview with 107.1-FM in New York City. “I will share with people, the tools they need to heal themselves.”
Afua’s recent books, “Heal Thyself”, “Sacred Woman”, and “The City of Wellness” along with her instruction on fasting have attracted attention and support from noted personalities such as Stevie Wonder, Erykah Badu, Ben Vereen, John Amos, Vanessa Williams, Roberta Flack and Hazelle Goodman.
