Fisk alumna, author, educator and medical administrator Linda Kenney Miller gave the inaugural lecture during the newly-established L.M. Collins Lecture Series.Miller shared her experiences that led to writing her first work, Beacon on the Hill, which is a tribute to the early African American medical professionals of the 20th century. Miller discussed the legacy of her father, Dr. Howard W. Kenney, and others who served as mentors during her career in medical management and administration.
The Dr. L.M. Collins lecture series was established by Fisk’s student government association to honor Dr. Collins for his 60 plus year career as an educator at Fisk University. Dr. Collins has exposed generations of Fiskites to the Harlem Renaissance and has provided instruction in composition and African American literature.
