The Clinton Global Initiative University (CGIU) is a project of the Clinton Global Initiative that seeks to engage the next generation of leaders on college campuses around the world. By addressing social and environmental issues, the (CGIU) allows students to develop active methods to combat social and environmental challenges.
In partnership with the Pat Tillman Foundation and the Wal-Mart Foundation, the Clinton Global Initiative’s 2009 Awards will distribute $400,000 in awards to various students and student organizations who have made commitments to addressing the world’s most pressing global challenges. Commitments to Action can be made in any of the five (CGIU) focus areas including education, energy and climate change, global health, peace and human rights, and poverty alleviation.
