Congratulations to Fisk University’s Women of Perfection as they have finished as finalists in the 24th annual Mary Catherine Strobel Awards sponsored by Hands on Nashville.
From a pool of over 100 nominees in the Strobel Award’s Civic Volunteer Group category, Fisk’s Women of Perfection emerged to finish as a top-three finalist alongside HelpLine Volunteers and Maury Regional Medical Center.
Women of Perfection contribute to the local community by tutoring and mentoring Nashville-area youth through Fisk’s comprehensive after-school and summer programs known as THRUST (To Harness, Retain, Understand, Sustain and Teach). The Women of Perfection, established by Fisk University in 2005, is made up of college women who have donated more than 1,000 volunteer hours to THRUST. The volunteers also participate in other community service projects, including Nashville’s Breast Cancer Walk as well as the WSFK(88.1-FM) Radio-Thon.
The Mary Catherine Strobel Volunteers of the Year Awards is one of the key programs in fulfilling the Hands On Nashville mission. These awards were established in honor of Nashville native Mary Catherine Strobel who selflessly aided hundreds of homeless, hungry, and less fortunate people throughout Middle Tennessee. Today her family is honored to bestow this award upon others who exemplify Mary Catherine’s generous spirit.
More than 600 volunteers and agency representatives attended the annual awards ceremony on Tuesday, April 6 in Cool Springs.
