Despite the cold and the crowds, Fisk Alumna Ella Mae Johnson (’25) made her way to Washington D.C. to attend the inauguration of President Barack Obama on January 20. Johnson, 105, is a resident of Cleveland, Ohio and is currently the oldest living African American graduate of Case Western Reserve University where she earned her masters degree in 1929. Fisk University was presented with the first annual Presidential Legacy Award during the banquet following the inaugural concert of the 105 Voices of History HBCU National Choir at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C on September 7. (more…)
